Here is an Example

Tablets are currently the most popular way to take glucosamine. Glucosamine in powder form, however does not compress at all, especially when it is the sole, active ingredient. Somewhere in the supply chain, the raw material must be refined into compressible (DC grade) granules.

The normal glucosamine supply chain does not make it easy. Raw material manufacturers lack expertise in finished dose production, and lack the incentive to create better products. Most don’t even supply directly to the tablet manufacturer.

A tablet manufacturer has few options other than to use particle-size distribution (PSD) to try to gauge the compressibility of the granules they are using since this is a standard measurement among all raw material producers.

PSD falls short however, because it does not fully measure whether a material is really suitable for making tablets. But, since most glucosamine is supplied through a web of brokers, traders, and distributors, PSD is the only measure available to try to have some consistency. Using TSI granules with high compressibility instead, and from a single, traceable source, is the only way to truly ensure proper, consistent tablet formation.

TSI’s expertise is that we understand the most critical aspects for each finished product format – from tablets to gels – and we know how to customize glucosamine material to ensure that our customers achieve their objectives. The results are more efficient processes using fewer resources producing higher quality products.
